Ontario January 2021 total retail sales decreased by -27.69% from December levels. Although monthly core retail also decreased, by -32.32%, core retail was nevertheless up +.72% year over year, with total retail also rising year over year, but dropped, at -7.00% over January 2020. As has generally been the case, building materials, food and beverage and general merchandise were strong, with clothing/ accessories and sporting/hobby goods leading the decline at -44% to -58%.
